Bakersfield, CA – Man Loses Life in Auto Wreck on Columbus St
Bakersfield, CA (February 23, 2024) – The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed that a 32-year-old man died as a result of a pedestrian accident on Thursday evening. The incident was reported to law enforcement at around 9:30 p.m.
According to BPD reports, a dark sedan was heading east on Columbus Street during the evening hours. At the same time, a pedestrian was traveling northbound when he was struck by a vehicle near Rice Street. The pedestrian was severely hurt in the crash. Despite medical efforts, he passed away from his injuries. He was pronounced deceased on site by the Kern County Coroner’s Office. The vehicle left the scene of the accident without stopping. The police department is currently investigating.
