El Cajon, CA – Child Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Rios Canyon Rd
El Cajon, CA (April 20, 2024) – A young child was transported to a local hospital following a motor vehicle accident that occurred in East County. The accident was reported at around 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14.
According to police reports, a nine-year-old boy was struck by a 1991 GMC Sierra, which was traveling northbound on Rios Canyon Road near the intersection of Kelli Lane. The child was severely injured as a result of the accident. The victim was treated at the scene briefly and transported to Rady Children’s Hospital for emergency medical treatment. The driver of the truck, identified as a 76-year-old man, remained at the scene of the crash and spoke with law enforcement. The driver did not report any injuries. At this time, the circumstances surrounding the accident are being investigated.
