Bakersfield, CA – One Killed, Two Hurt in DUI Crash on Planz Rd
Bakersfield, CA (February 12, 2024) – The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed that one person lost their life as a result of a deadly crash that occurred on the south side of the city. The incident was reported to law enforcement at around 11:10 p.m. on February 9.
According to reports from BPD, a Chevrolet Tahoe and a white sedan collided in the 1900 block of Planz Road. The incident prompted authorities to close down the roadway near White Lane. A total of three people in the sedan were harmed. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased while at the scene. Two additional victims were transported to area hospitals for emergency care.
The driver of the SUV, later identified by the police as 25-year-old Arturo Munoz, was deemed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. He was booked by the police in Kern County jail, where he faces charges for DUI with three prior convictions, DUI causing great bodily injury, and homicide. Investigations are currently underway.
