Bakersfield, CA – Man Killed in Crash with Horse on S Sterling Rd

Bakersfield, CA (March 19, 2024) – A man lost his life as a result of a fatal accident that occurred in Kern County on Saturday evening, March 16. The Bakersfield Police Department was called to the scene of the accident at around 11:35 p.m.

According to official reports, a man and a horse were traveling through the intersection of South Sterling Road and Alto Place during the evening hours. For unknown reasons, they were struck by a truck. Authorities arrived at the scene and located the man and horse in the roadway, suffering from major injuries. The victim, identified as 46-year-old Jose Gelacio Mondragon Hernandez of Bakersfield, California, was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
