Car Accidents in California
Tens of thousands of motor vehicle accidents occur every month here in California. Unfortunately, many of these accidents result in serious injuries for those involved. After being hurt in a motor vehicle accident, crash victims have the opportunity to file personal injury claims to seek compensation for the damages and losses. It is imperative that you have strong evidence in support of your claim to ensure you are able to recover compensation for your damages. Some of the strongest pieces of evidence you can include are:
- Photographs/Videos: Visual documentation of the accident scene, vehicle damages, and any relevant traffic signs or signals. This will be invaluable when it comes to showing various details, such as the point of impact, road conditions, and weather at the time of the crash.
- Witness Statements: Statements from individuals who witnessed your accident occur can be used to demonstrate the actions of the defendant. These unbiased statements can help to prove further that the defendant was negligent.
- Medical Records: Documentation of injuries sustained in the crash, including medical bills, diagnosis, and treatment plans. It can also be incredibly helpful for you to keep a journal that details your recovery process. This will provide the court with information pertaining to the impact that your injuries have had on your mental health and well-being.
In California, the time that a person has to initiate a legal claim, which is referred to as the statute of limitations, is generally two years from the date of the car crash. This means that individuals have a limited window of time within which they must initiate legal proceedings to seek compensation for their injuries and damages resulting from the accident. Failure to file a claim within this specified timeframe may result in the loss of the right to pursue legal action. It is imperative that you seek legal representation from a seasoned Simi Valley car accident lawyer as soon as possible to ensure you have the best chance of getting justice.
