Long Beach, CA – Two Deputies Hurt in Crash on Atlantic Ave at 91 Fwy

Long Beach, CA (July 8, 2024) – Two deputies were transported to area hospitals with injuries following a motor vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday morning, July 7. Firefighters and paramedics were both sent to the scene of the accident at around 4:15 a.m.

According to official reports, a cruiser was in pursuit of a vehicle on Atlantic Avenue just north of the 91 Freeway during the early morning hours. For unknown reasons, the vehicle became involved in a collision. The deputies were trapped inside the vehicle. One deputy was able to free himself. However, the second victim had to be extricated by firefighters. Both of the deputies were injured and transported to area hospitals for emergency medical care. It is not known whether other injuries were reported in the crash. Investigations surrounding the accident are currently underway by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
