Car Accidents in California
Every day, California witnesses a significant number of reported motor vehicle accidents, ranging from minor fender benders to catastrophic collisions. These incidents result in hundreds of thousands of people getting injured across our state each year, impacting lives and families in profound ways. Sadly, many of these accidents occur due to the carelessness and negligence of drivers who may be distracted, driving under the influence, speeding, or disregarding traffic laws.
Following a car crash, victims have the option to seek compensation by filing a personal injury claim. In California, the state’s laws on comparative negligence play a crucial role in determining the compensation individuals can receive after an accident. Operating under a system of pure comparative negligence, individuals who get hurt in car accidents can pursue compensation even if they share some blame for the incident. For example, if a driver is found to be 30% at fault for an accident, their compensation will be reduced by that percentage.
